How do you remove stock tail section on Ninja 1000 (for tail tidy)
EDIT POST - it's all done now, figured it all out thanks to "haknslash's" video!
I'm installing a tidy tail on my Ninja 1000. I've removed the four bolts going down into the stock tail piece from under the rear seat and I'm having no success getting it off. I don't see any more screws and I've tried everything I can without risking breaking it. I'll do a search here and keep working on it, but I'm sure within 30 minutes someone can provide me the easy answer (no pressure!!!).
Thanks

I just found "haknslash's" video - YOU DA MAN
R&G leaves out very important steps for the N1K. Back out to the garage.

Once I saw that the grab handles had to be removed and drop down the entire rear fender to get to those two screws it all came together (the instructions said nothing about that). I got everything together about an hour ago when my wife called me in for dinner. I'm just trying to figure out which way to route the wires. The cut out in the gasket they supply seems like they want you to route the wires differently than stock. I'll figure out the best way to do that and should have it all back together in about 30 minutes. All the wiring is done and everything is working.
BTW, I guess I didn't mention I have the R&G kit. Did I mention that their instructions suck the big one if you have a Ninja 1000?

Got it all done. But not before one of the bigger "WTF" moments in a very long time. I got everything together, double and triple checked the lights were all working, even had the seat back on the bike and just had to bolt the license plate to the new tidy tail. Ummmmmm, what am I doing wrong here - must be missing something obvious. No, no, no, no.... The license plate will not mount because the license plate light (that came with the kit) interferes with the top of the license plate itself. After about ten minutes of mulling what I might have done wrong (nothing) I took a large screw driver and bent the outer parts of the tidy tail bracket down and was able to get the top of the license plate partially under the light. I have no idea what they were thinking. I looked in the package to see if there was some sort of bracket to mount the plate down lower, but there was not, nor should there have been a need for one. But it's all on and looks good now, but just out of spite for a company that does stupid sh*t like that I would have a hard time recommending the R&G.

Yup, sounds like my exact experience as well. Nothing like telling your wife "yup, I'll be done in an hour" only to realize an hour later you aren't done. Sound familiar?
My challenge was routing the wires up through the subframe, unable to get the tail tidy to sit tight to the undertail. There is a specific way they need to be routed and turned so they don't prevent the undertail from sitting flush with the sub frame. One of the the ****tiest mods I have done to any of the 14 bikes I've owned.

I forgot to mention, I had to use longer bolts on the front two than what came with the kit. I was concerned it might be because I didn't have it seated right. In fact, I actually plan to go back and try the ones that came with the kit. I think when I got it all buttoned up I may have gotten everything seated right, but I'm still not positive. But it does seem okay. Thanks for confirming that it wasn't just me!

My Muzzys tail tidy went right on, no problems, but instructions were horrible as well. A kick to the groin for whomever decided to keep those two screws secret.

The Evotech tail tidy is a breeze to install. The instructions mention the WTF screws, the cables reroute like stack and you can use the OEM indicators.Kawa Ninja 010.jpg
The kit also comes with an adjustable bracket for various size plates.

I just got my Z1000 on Saturday, and have been doing a TON of reading trying to figure out the best way to get rid of the ugly fender. So as I was reading through this thread, I realized what you were missing...
R&G (1.5-inch) US license plate adapter
If you had that it would probably have been a bit easier, don't know if it would have been $16 easier, but a bit!
