I had a missing bolt for holding the front red fender when I took delivery. Then when I was installing Ivan's kit I found numerous fasteners loose. I thought about starting a thread on the subject. The loose issues I am talking about were where things were connected to the frame. From the headlight area to things just under the fairing. All in all I tightened numerous things, some of which were only finger tight.

Northern Suburbs but I seriously ride everywhere within 100 miles of Minneapolis on a regular basis. Gotta get out there when you can in this damn state.

The ride into work today was completely uneventful in a good way and the bike definitely has gained some power on the butt dyno... lesson learned: Castrol GTX breaks down FAST. I wouldn't push a batch past 700 miles ever again. We'll see how long the Rotella holds up to my riding style and MN temps. Thanks for the advice everyone.
Also - this thread helped quiet my fears about the Tractorsaki noise a lot:
Freaking out !! N1K Engine Ticking ?
The sound clips posted by motoCYCHO are dead ringerers for how my bike sounds at idle, I'm even a little quieter than his clips now with the fresh oil. Huge props for him taking the time to test out the two different CCTs and record the clips/post for us here. Great forum!

What I don't get is why is it that USA (including California) and Canada Ninja 1000 bikes have the valve check at scheduled at 15k miles, meanwhile the rest of the WORLD has it scheduled for 26k miles.

I have the same problem with mine and cant figure it out. Had slip ons when i took it to the dealership to see what was wrong, two weeks later after hearing nothing i call and call. he says that its the exhaust, no backpressure is bad. i said it has a cat underneathe it and i hear of alot of guys running slip ons with stock fuel, he said thats what the prob was cause he put on stock cans and rode it along with 3 other dealership guys and thats definitely it. i angrily go get my bike back to discover 1 mile had been put on it since i left it. i will figure out the problem myself, thats just nonsense!!!!!!!! it had stock cans on when the problem started! dealer ship where i live is terrible. ive ran a few cans of seafoam through mine, to find that the problem is so sparatic i cant tell if it helped or not. hope your dealership figures yours out so i can fix mine. its more than frustrating i know first hand. mine started at 900 miles btw. im disappointed as well, takes away from the new bike feel thats for sure

Today I went for a quick ride down to the store to get some smokes. I finally decided to get on it a bit and maybe got around 9k RPM when I heard this horrid "BZZZZZ" sound coming from the front of the bike. I had my visor down so thought for a second maybe it was a fluke thing. Left the store to head back home and got on it again, multiple times getting up around the 8.5-9k RPM range and the same sound was there every time. I flipped my visor up and it seemed to come from the windscreen. I tried to see if grabbing it would muffle the sound any but couldn't ride at those speeds one handed on these roads. Got back to the house and checked the windscreen screws and ALL of them were at a minimum 1 1/4" turns out from snug tight! They turned so easy that at first I had to double check and make sure there wasn't some kind of nut spinning on the back. I didn't get a chance to take the bike back out to see if that was causing the vibrating bzzz sound or what. 1st time I've had the RPM's that high so not sure if it would of always made that sound or just now starting to from fastners being loose. We'll see. I'm going to do a good check on all fastners on my off day.

When I put my new Puig on yesterday I made sure the get them REAL tight without stripping them, the buzzing vibrations from the motor seem to really loosen things up on this bike. I think the counter-balance shaft on this motor could have used a little more R&D time for the rev range the bike runs at on the HWY.

Like car oil? Or did you use motorcycle specific?

Car grade 10W-40 - it was just a break-in oil, but I pushed it too far. Rotella has been working great so far with 1K on the clock.
