Double Powerlet in Dash and Double Ram Mount on Brake/Clutch
In case anyone is interested in this sort of mounting scheme. I have 2 powerlets in the dash, and a ram mount on the clutch (2 balls) and on the brake (1 ball). So, I can run power to a radar detector on the right, and run power to both the GPS on left and to a tank bag (and split power inside the tank bag, to iphone and ?). I think the set-up will work well, but I'll need to run the power cords from the powerlets on dash back up to the windscreen then straight through the bars or a full lock turn will cause a problem. More later..........

powerlet has top quality gear. i ordered the drill bit kit that comes with it. Just drill the two holes, sand them or file them a touch and screw in the powerlets. The only trick to the project for me was running the wires on the left side of the bike. I had to unscrew the tank screw (under the seat), pull the tank up an inch or so, then pull the powerlet cord through with string. The dust boot made tugging the cord through take a few minutes, but once you get the powerlet cord under the tank, it's easy. Now, I can plug the battery tender into the powerlet direclty and connect a voltmeter (in addition to operating the gps, radar and running power to tank bag for iphone). let me know if you have questions.

ps....i didn't need the low profile kit. but, i think i would have drilled it a touch lower because there is a bar behind that location and a touch lower for the drill point would have been better. i drilled in the middle of the flat spot triangle - just go a touch lower. it's easy to pull the panel off.

my powerlet just one under my seat to connect thewire from my vest (heated vest rapid fire+heated gloves gerbing with dual temperature wireless controller)
and if i need to connect my optimate 4 on it too IMG_1936.JPGIMG_1935.JPGIMG_1941.JPG
I have the same RAM mount. I ordered it with both the clutch/brake reservoir mount and the bar mount, in hopes that there was enough space on the bar for it to squeeze in. Just an 1/8" too wide so I grinded (ground?) the mount just a tad and it fits.
i keep the windscreen in the middle position - but the wind flows right over the gps. i'll be ordering the longer ram mount arms to get the radar/laser detector middle of the windscreen.

I assume that ya'll have to keep the windshield in the "up" position in order to mount anything on the handlebars - correct?
Other than looking funny sticking up above the screen, why does it matter? I had a GPS mount on my Z1K and there was no windscreen to hide it behind... which reminds me... I left the power cord attached to the bike when I traded it in... DOH!
Because whatever you have mounted on the RAM mounts will smack into the windscreen in the low position when you turn the bars.
Ahh... did not think of that. I still have the naked bike mentality going - no windscreen and everything turns when you move the bars. I guess that will change after I get a little more seat time on the Ninja. I still have to buy a new power cord for my GPS and figure out what mount I want to get...

Treestone, do you have a picture of your clutch mount with nothing on it? Wondering how you got the ball on the bottom.
My problem is I have very little room between my tankbag and the windscreen in the low position.
I'll look for a close up of the clutch side. The lower ball comes attached to the RAM mount from the manuf. - it's a dual ball mount. Other than that, it works the same as the single ball mount (just less sliding room to move the mount up and down b/c the lower ball is taking up some room). I don't have problems with the windscreen in any position, but I haven't mounted a tank bag yet (just tail bag). The mount comes close to the tank, but anything mounted is higher than the tank. There's a great SW-Motech system that will allow me to run power from the dash into the tank ring mounted small/medium bag - then I can plug in various devices in the bag (and remove the bag to other bikes with power). My goal is to run the detector and music into the helmet, and have the the ability to take calls from the Mrs.). Here's the tank bag system I'm working on building - 6 part series -
