    Mirrors!?!?

Ok, what is it with people thinking these mirrors are to help you see behind you like a rear view mirror in a car? I swear everytime I see a post with someone complaining about all they can see is their elbows, my eye starts twitching. These mirrors for merging onto the highway or switching lanes, it is NOT a rear view mirror! /rant off

You can see behind you with proper mirrors. My RIF mirrors allows me to see right behind me. Mirrors should allow you to see what you need including behind you. The stock mirrors barely work for lane changes and merges. I don't know about you but I can't head check like an owl constantly to make sure no one is going to slam their car behind me.

I can't see behind me like I could on the Bandit, and I find it very disconcerting to not know what's gaining on me in my lane. This is especially a concern in stop-n-go traffic or at stoplights, where motorcyclists often go hood surfing if they're not vigilant. I'm on the lookout for a good extender option.

    Rant rejected as invalid. :-)

Whenever I'm stopping, I'm usually one footing it so my bike is leaned over or I just have to lean my head to the side a bit. These mirrors on the Z are about 100x better than the mirrors on my old cbr. Those things would swivel completely in at like 60 mph, so I just took them off all together. I never have a problem using my mirrors to lane change or merge, but I would imagine if you have them adjusted to where you are looking at your elbows that might be a problem...If you really want a rear view mirror, why not just go this route? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYFla-d1lKA

Sorry, but I think seeing behind me is VERY important. If you don't there is no point in my explaining it (why do you think every car made has a rear view mirror?). Besides, if the mirror was extended out another inch or two, it would serve both purposes just like most motorcycles made.

Not really sure what the issue is. I have the stock mirrors on the N1K positioned just fine to see behind me. If you move your head a bit you can easily see whats in the lane next to you as well.

That means you've never experienced the stock mirrors with sw-motech extenders before. Best mirror combo ive had yet on a bike, now i can see who is going to pull me over....or shatter my spine before it happens

I prefer bar enders... I don't have two large shiny objects in front of me blocking my view and I never have to look at my shoulders or move to see what's going on behind me - other than turning my head a bit, that is...

Will the bar end mirrors scrape if you are leaning hard in the twisties?

No, you would drag elbows first... and if that happens, you are riding way to hard for the street!

ROFL! You will scrape cases long before your bars even come close...

Just curious, I don't want them...I have no problem with my mirrors. I do not expect to see behind me with my side mirrors, just as I would not try and use the side mirrors on my car to see whats behind me. If I want to see what's behind my I just pull my elbow in a bit, turn around, or simply tilt my head a bit.

I love my '11 Ninja1000 but find the inability to see behind me disconcerting at best. All I can see is my knuckles and forearms. I went on TwistedThrottle's website, but am having difficulty identifying which units fit the N1000. Can you assist? By the way, if you respond later and I don't reply, it is because I will be out of the country from early tomorrow morning until Sunday evening. Thanks!
