I really like this option: headers with stock mufflers. I know there must be some performance loss with stock mufflers, but I think the stock mufflers add to the unique character of the Z1000.
This is a discussion on Akra headers with oem mufflers within the 3rd Gen Z1000/Z1000SX/Ninja 1000 forums, part of the Kawasaki Z1000, Ninja 1000, Z750 & Z-750S category; I really like this option: headers with stock mufflers. I like the stock mufflers over most the aftermarket mufflers. The stock mufflers make the bike look unique. I wonder how the stock mufflers compare with the exhaust mod to aftermarket in regards to performance? Somebody should do a back to back dyno comparison![]()
There's no way the stock mufflers are going to perform as well as a straight through muffler but if you're not looking for every HP you can gain or want to maintain the "unique character" and lose a few pounds, this is a great option.
This would be something I'd do - I've already done the stock muffler mod though, and I'm worries that if I added headers to it it would be too loud.. Love the idea of shaving some pounds off and adding power though! Anyone else done this mod?
Anybody know the PN for the pipe? Link in post#1 not working for me, and I can't find it on the web site.
Here are the part numbers (page 4):

I was keen on this also... and possibly going to a couple of akra or yoshi pipe a little furthur down the track... Crazy question is if its a 4-2-2 system compared with a 4-2-1 system would there be any difference in power output???? I mean with Akra all round
I'm having trouble finding someone who can order the Akra headers on their own. My local Kawa/Parts Unlimited dealer says that PU does not sell the individual components and I have to find someone that works with Akra directly - and they don't.
Also, what price can be expected for the header components in total?
Targa FE, adjustablelevers, powerlet, GiPro GI, Akra GP slip-ons, Sargent seat, Rizoma Chain Guard, FCE, Air Kit
I think Rob got his for around $800. If you search some of his other posts I think he lists where he went through to get them also. Or just wait a little and he will possibly answer that question here.

I believe the arrow headers are cheaper then the arkapovic ones.
