This event is typically held Weds through Saturday on the week/weekend between Mothers Day and Memorial Day. If you would like to suggest different dates please post them up then we can set up a poll and have a vote.

No Real Opinion...

I don't have a preference on the date. As this is the first year in a while I have a good chance to be there. I had a death in the family and a college graduation in 2010. Then another college graduation in 2011. I don't have any other kids (that I'm aware of -- Isn't that the standard joke?) to graduate. So, my schedule SHOULD permit me to attend.

As such, I will be following the planning and offering up opinions if/when I have one.

Looking forward to a chance to see you folks again. It has been TOO LONG!!

Suggestion

I was just requested to work a job in Sandusky, Ohio from 12 May to 23 May.

So, could you folks consider the first weekend in May -- The 2nd thru the 6th??
Or the last weekend -- The 23rd thru the 27th -- although, I believe that IS Memorial Day weekend....

Just a data point.... Pick what works best for the Masses.

ROTR11

Might want to change the Title to ROTR12
I understand your confusion with the ROTR number. It is ROTR11 because this would be the 11th year that we've met (or attempted to meet). The very first ROTR took place in the summer of 2002. After that, with high temps and increased chances of rain in the summer, we moved to May. Then a few folks wanted to do it again in the same year and a fall gathering occurred. The fall gatherings are a bit more sporadic and get the ROTR#.5 nomenclature.

It probably would be easier to remember what number we are on IF it matched the year. But, we are really not a group that believes in easy... just fun!!! :agree:

Make perfect sense..Sounds like a great gathering..If it's not in conjunction with anything other major event thats drawing a lot of traffic in the area, Im going to plan on going as long as I can work it into a business trip that gets me closer to that region. I'll load the bike up in my truck and haul it to Columbus or Cincinatti and ride the rest of the way.

Sounds like a great opportunity to meet up with more forum members and put a face to the names! Already met at least a Dozen from here.

Early May might be cold up in the hills. I'd be happy with sometime in June as long as I could get time off. They only allow 2 people per week off where I work and a lot of those guys have a lot of vacation time to use. It's a crap shoot at best for me no matter when it is.

Base Camp???

Having missed out the last 2 years I have a quick question...

Still "Base Camping" out of Wytheville? Or has another location come up as a preference???

How about mid June?

I will be unable to make it the weekend of June 2 or June 9. Those are the only two weekends in May or June that I am out of town.

Gump, we are still basing out of Wytheville. We were considering a Western NC location for ROTR10.5 but the ride never happened. I am open to most any location but I know the roads of West NC and East TN the best.

As good as any other for me but it does run into Memorial Day weekend which could be an issue for some people.

Sold your ZR??? Andrew, say it is not so....
I understand, particularly with the rest of your "stable".

Hope to see you there.

Hmmm... thought about this ride a few times before, thinking again... I'm in MD and thought I would be moving way back to Florida in a few months, but now it looks like I will be around for a bit longer. Probably the perfect amount of time to adjust to recent company buyout / shift in employement. By then things should be all in place. Been wanting to meet some more RF people, I only know a few in person.

I'm working on a group rate at the Quality Inn & Suites in Wytheville. The rates in Hillsville are much higher. They have given me a verbal rate of $55 per night, this includes a hot breakfast (eggs & sausage, etc.), newspaper, & high-speed wifi. It is walking distance to several restaurants (Shoney's, Denny's, German beer garden, a Mexican restaurant etc.). Once I hear back from the manager I'll let you know how to get your discounted room.

+1

First day of riding is Friday instead of thrusday right? This due to the holliday allowing us to ride leave for home Monday vs splitting up on Sunday?

I'm game BTW. PTO calendar is clear for me at the moment. I can make it!

Would you guys be ok with moving the dates to the weekend prior? May 17 - 20. The hotels are not willing to negotiate discounts due to it being memorial day weekend, they can't block off that many rooms for our use. If we move it a week up or past it will give us some more flexibility budget wise.
