Sniff, sniff, is that gas?

I'm commuting to work on my ZR-7S. Mmmmm. Except that my gloves and tank bag always have a faint smell of gasoline. I can't leave them in the locker with my sports jackets, so I lug 'em to my office.

So far no one has said "Hey, man, your aftershave sucks" - but has anyone found a solution to this?

(Not riding the bike is obviously NOT an option)

I have never had any fuel odor from my ZR. Any chance you got gas on them while refueling? Also inspect the gas cap for proper sealing.

If you look closely at the gas cap, you'll see a very small vent hole. Sometimes when the moon is right, you'll here a whistling sound as the hole vents pressure. What is venting? Gas fumes! My tank bag always smells during the hotter months from the venting fumes. Hope this helps.

Cheers!!

Yes, I've heard it. I hoped the vent was located elsewhere, but I suppose it has to be at the top to work. No sign that the tank bag prevents proper venting, I assume. But neither is it a good idea to put a rag under the tank bag so I can leave the smelly rag outside.

And if I get tail and side bags, the tank will vent onto my jacket instead. Hmmmm.
