I picked up my '03 CLB ZRX today. The dealer did me right on my 1998 VFR (basically gave Blue Book retail), which was too hard to resist. $7,800 OTD. I love the bike...the power is great, up to 4K RPM.
I've been lurking around since last year when I was 99% sure I was going to get a ZR7s, but I got such a good deal on the VFR, that I thought I'd better take it.
Over the last few months, regret was creeping in, as I wasn't physically comfortable on the VFR. Even with bar risers, my right had would get numb.
I've grown accustomed to the HP and torque of the VFR, which pretty much alleviated the fears I had last year about being able to handle the ZRX's power and weight. Not a problem now.
Smart move man!! You think you're stoked now, just wait, the adventure or mods never end. BTW, that is a good looking machine in CLB my friend... welcome to the hoolihood.
Have you seen the response from rudedogiam @ ZRXOA? He was thinking the same thing I was... So I guess you might be the "red headed blue rexer" or something like that... :? :blxsuspic Who cares now, you are now a "hooligan." :headbang:

yeah, GREAT bike....the FASTEST color, and now you gotta get started on the mods. The sad thing for me is that I'm almost OUT of mods! I need people to start making more stuff so I can buy it!!
Since I got the bike two Saturdays ago, I removed all the reflectors, got a Corbin saddle, put on OEM pegs, shortened the turn signals, drilled 29 holes in the inner exhaust baffle, moved the license plate bracket up under the tail light, and chopped the rear mud flap.
Next will probably be some bar-end mirrors, new grips, and any possible number of things offered by the members of the ZRXOA.

Hey. I'm tryin' to decide between a used VFR (possibly 98), a Honda 919, or a Kawasaki ZRX. Ironically, I saw that you ditched a 98 VFR for the Kawasaki. Other than the uncomfortable wrists, was there anything you disliked about the VFR? How did settle on the ZRX coming from the VFR. They seem to be somewhat different to me.

The decision to buy a ZRX was more or less a whim. I mainly wanted more torque and a standard riding position. Additional factors were low interest rates and a dealer that offered me in trade what I paid for my 1998 a year ago. Oh, and my  of a wife that let me do all this.
The VFR is a great bike - sophisticated and very well made. Low maintenance and absolutely no problems in the 6K miles I put on it. My VFR came with a lot of upgrades already installed, so I really couldn't do much more to it, other than getting a Power Commander or expensive suspension work.
I looked at the 919, but it wasn't as good a value as the ZRX. The power was about the same as the VFR (although it is lighter). The suspension isn't fully adjustable, there's no wind protection, and I don't like the colors offered. It also isn't as well suited to 2-up riding, which we do on occasion.
I originally wanted a Bandit 1200, but the dealer insulted me with his trade offer and wouldn't come down off MSRP on a bike that had been sitting in his showroom for 8 months.
It's a Corbin Gunfighter/Lady...by far the biggest improvement I can think of. The stock seat was so uncomfortable for me, I ordered the Corbin the same day I got the bike.
Tom, your picture reminds me I need to get some frame sliders. I like Eric's radiator brackets (Ted383's too). I think I have some hints to drop for my Birthday and Xmas gifts this year.
Hey Mike, Ted's ignition advancer is also an awesome mod. I noticed the difference on my first ride with it installed. Snappy throttle response, and combined with the Yosh RS-3 and K&N is just awesome. I think that the only mod left is a full system...but I've got to wait awhile on that. So says my boss.
Ryan, I hope you realize that you have a reputation to live up to since we all know the blue one is the fastest Rex out there....
Blue is the ONLY way to go with a Rex...Well, if I were FORCED to take a different color, I'd survive with green, and I guess if there were no green, I'd take a black one, but I'd have to get a different bike if I was stuck with Red as my only option! haha
GO BLUE!!!!! Nice bike Ryan! Mine looks very similar with a lot more mods....of course, it was cool that all the mods from my 1100 converted over to the 1200!!
It's just a goofy little script that I found on the internet....just thought I'd put it up there for a bit for fun....At first I wasn't sure if it really worked or not, but then I tested it from several diff. computers and every time it got the information right!
