The local Kawasaki dealer has a new 2002 red ZRX. I haven't talked price yet but I am interested in buying it. First I have a couple of questions for you ZRX owners. Does the ZRX have any hesitation/carburation issues in stock form like the ZR-7? Will a Corbin lower the seat height? I can just put my feet down flat while sitting on the ZR-7. I was on the balls of my feet when I sat on the ZRX. That did not give me a warm fuzzy. Lastly ... does anyone know what the dealer invoice is for this bike? Just trying to get an idea of how much the dealer might go down in price.
I have a 2002 red ZRX and it's an amazing motorcycle. When I first got my ZRX it had some carb problems(hesitation, idle problems, etc...), so after a couple of weeks I took it back to the dealer and they found that 2 of my carb jets were partially clogged. Bike sat on the showroom floor for almost 1 year and that was the cause of my carb problems. They cleaned the carbs and adjusted my fuel/air mixture screw(to make it run a little more rich) and I didn't have to pay for anything. When I got the bike back it was like night and day, the thing ran great with no hesitation at all. My buddy also bought a 2002 ZRX a week before me and his bike ran great right off the showroom floor, so I guess I had a little bad luck. I like the stock seat and have no reason to get an after market one, but I've heard that a Corbin will lower the seat height a little(not sure by how much). I think dealer invoice on a 2002 is about $6500. I live in San Jose, Ca. and I paid $8300 out the door for mine last Dec., but I probably could have got it for less. My buddy paid a few dollars under $8300 for his at a different dealership. Some pay more, some pay less. I think where you live has a lot to do with the out the door price. Silicon valley is not the best place to purchase a motorcycle. I say GO FOR IT and don't look back. If you liked the ZR-7(I had a 2000 blue one for about 18 months), you'll love the ZRX. It's more comfortable, has more power and handles great. Good luck.
I bought my Black 2001 ZRX new last year for $7,400 out the door and it ran perfect. I'm 5'8" and I can put my feet flat on the pavement just as I did on the ZR-7 (had the fast blue one also for about 18 months). I find that the stock seat's a little hard on the butt after about 200 or so miles, so I may get a corbin someday, other mods have cost me a little to much and I need more gear. I have a Yoshimura RS-3 titanium race slip on and a K&N filter which makes the bike run just a tad quicker (like it's not fast enough already). There are many many mods available for the ZRX, so if you do get one, hide your credit cards. Although the ZRX is about 25 pounds heavier than the ZR-7, you don't notice it, the ZRX handles very well. Big fun for the money.
Oh yea, I forgot, spend an hour or two here www.zrxoa.org/forums/ and you'll find a lot of answers to your questions, especially on the mods I mentioned before.
Went back to the dealer today. There was a sign on the bike: $6899 + tax, license, freight, etc. Is that a good deal? Standards are not popular here in my neck of the woods.

I would take that deal... as long as it isn't a black one. :moon:
BTW, the Corbin will lower your seating position but probably won't get you any more flat footed. It's a wider seat surface and splays your legs out unless you ask them to build yours with a "nose job." I'd ride another Rex with a Corbin if you can before you spend the $$.
If you go GREEN ask for a BIGGER discount. Hey, Chris..:moon: J/K, either black, red, or green, you can't go wrong on a ZRX. The '03 in Blue ain't bad either, but you won't get that price. Tom
