I have an '01 zrx 1200 and am very disappointed. It has stock can and is bone stock. 6400 miles. It is very dead until about 6000 rpm. won't even lift the front end up. How much will a Ted's advancer help and which exhaust do i add either a muzzy, yosh, or akrapovic? Any help is appreciated. I'm sure my '80 ltd 1000 will run better than this. At least the ltd will lift the front from 1st-3rd. thanks again.

The advancer won't do much for it, neither will any exhaust improvements until you find out what's wrong with it at this point. Sounds like something is wrong with the carbs. Have the compression checked also. Did you just buy this ZRX?
bought it last spring. it rode fine for the most part last summer other than no power. seemed like had to be 6000 rpm plus for it to wake up in the least. it is going to the Kawasaki dealer this week for a new muzzy, advancer, and carb go through and rejet. was mainly wondering which header is best. don't want carbon fiber. want something stainless or chrome. heard to buy muzzy, yoshimura, or akrapovic?
Muzzy is the easiest to find these days for the ZRX. I'd recommend the stainless header and stainless can from Muzzy, but you could save a few bucks and get the Muzzy stainless header with aluminum can.
Thanks for the links. I almost bought a stainless/aluminum system for $525 plus $67 freight. Your link is a lot better with the free freight. Found out the carbs were plugged in the air screws and mice were in air filter. Put on a K&N, added a Vance & Hines advancer, and am in progress of rejetting and going through carbs. Any advice on which jets to put in considering above doing items?? Thanks

Get a stage one Dynojet kit for the ZRX1200R and have a good mechanic install it. Synch the carbs while he's at it. Make sure the mech knows about the advancer also. With that done, the ZRX should run like a "scalded *** ape".... but sound better...
Thanks for the link for the rejetting kit. The local Kaw dealer is doing the carb work. They claim it will be unbelievable how much of a difference is going to happen. They are going to synch the carbs also. Thanks for all the imput. Not many ZRX's around here up by Sioux City, IA. It is almost as much fun to ride as my LTD but like I said earlier it just was doggy. Hopefully no more of that! Can't wait to get it back.
