My brother wants to get a ZRX 1200. We both love naked bikes, I got a Z1000 a while back and he's seriously thinking of getting a ZRX. We both love the way they look and I'm sure they're a blast to ride. Any comments?
Why does he not want a Z1000 like yours? He's older than you right? J/K.... I've had my '01 ZRX1200 (in Black) for almost 3 years, can't part with it, and I've tried. The ZRX is an awesome motorcycle for those of us that truly love the pure standard UJM...can't beat it for it's potential, for the mods available for it and the pure pleasure of it's torque, roll on power, handling and the "hooliganism" it inspires.... :headbang: Downside...yeah, it's a little heavy, has carbs instead of FI, has an ugly little fairing (mine is gone, have the ZR-7 round headlight). Did I say it is a blast to ride?bzwyatt26 said:My brother wants to get a ZRX 1200. We both love naked bikes, I got a Z1000 a while back and he's seriously thinking of getting a ZRX. I've discovered the weight of the ZRX is not so much an issue when riding very aggressively the more I ride it, and I ride it much more aggressively than I did the ZR-7. The weight of a ZRX is only noticable moving around at slow speeds or moving it in and out of my garage. Putting a ZRX on a trailer kind of scares me a little. Which reminds me, does anyone have trailer advice for loading (riding a ZRX up on a trailer)? I really liked Ben's trailer that he brought up to our ride last year... And where's the pics? oke:Tom Bozeman said:has an ugly little fairing (mine is gone, have the ZR-7 round headlight)
A friend of mine has one of those 4x8 cheapies from harborfreight.com, he added the turn signals and some 2x4 sides to give it the watermelon truck look.Tom Bozeman said:Putting a ZRX on a trailer kind of scares me a little. The weather has truly sucked around here the last 2 weeks Jeff, but it is better now. I'll post some pics tomorrow. My Z1000 dreams are fading fast...got a 15 year old son turning 16 in late April... :thud:Zed Kilo said:

Thanks for the info Bert. I've had two hernia surgeries since 2000, the latest was one year ago next month.... Can't take too much chances on another. I'll be looking at some used trailers I found in the newspaper ads lately and hoping to find one for a good price like the one Ben has. See you in May regardless....Berto said:

What's good about it is the thing tilts down toward the ground in the backwith a few 2x4's laying cross ways to soften the transition to the 4" inch height in the rear. You can do the operation one man - and you know the bike is a little center of forward when the front plops back down to normal position.
Can do this with it attach to your vehicle. ZR-7 was a piece of cake bringing it home from Savannah, one man unloading even with a recovering hernia slacker like me, but you wouldn't know..... maybe you would.
Congrats to your brother on his choice. If you get a chance to ride his ZRX more on twisty roads, etc. let us know what you think about the the most notable differences between the two bikes.bzwyatt26 said:Well, on Saturday I got to drive my brother's car home from the Kawi shop. He was on a blue '03 ZRX. It' a pretty bike. I got to ride it a little, it's very nice. Comfortable, lots of power and it handles great. I was only on straight city streets, but I could hardly feel the weight of it at all compared to my Z. It felt like my Z with the same controls and everything.
Thanks for your comments guys.
Are you suggesting I'm and old git :mecry:Considering mosty ZRX folks are time-tested, grizzled vets
It's the road that runs from Macclesfield to Buxton. Statistically the most dangerous road in the UK.Where is the Cat & Fiddle?
